Behind the Buckets

Hollywood has its Oscar, I have my Buckets. And like popcorn is to movies, my Bucket Movie Review Ratings are to your family’s movie experience: they make it that much better. No buttering up, just straight-talk about what you’re about to see, so you can decide if the film fits your family.

Yet unlike most movie critics, I’m focused on one audience: children. Storyline, acting, direction – those elements are important but not my priority when I review a film. Instead, I put the industry rating at the forefront, and analyze whether or not a movie’s content suits its given rating in the five categories that matter most to families: sexual content, violent content, crude/profane language, alcohol/other drug content, and like-ability with kids. I then calculate a movie’s score into a Bucket Rating and support it with my in-depth written review.

 

Must-See
All-around fantastic film with a spot-on industry rating and great storyline for kids.

Catch it if You Can
Good movie yet felt somewhat uncomfortable for the industry rating.

Watch with Caution
Fair film but the industry rating was misleading, as much of the content may not be right for some children.

 Pause or Pass
Poor movie filled with inappropriate content-the industry rating missed the mark.

Read a Book Instead
Film is just not suitable for children.
