Amongst all the violence and car chase scenes; the importance of family was woven throughout the film.

There was a lot of action and suspense, however the movie got a little long, the ending dragged on!

    Sexual Content:Mild

    • During the race car scenes, woman were shown wearing very little; while dancing and entertaining the crowd.
    • There were a few sexual references; one about a male’s body part, and another about liking rough sex.

    Violent Content: Excessive

    • There were punches, fist fights, character’s pushed against walls, explosions and gun shots throughout the entire movie.
    • There were race scenes and car chases.  We saw vehicles rolled over and completely destroyed; with a lot of casualties.
    • We saw characters jumping from one car to another, while racing.
    • Two woman got into a fierce battle. They pounded one another, and wrestled on the ground.

    • The f-word was said once. “Sh-t,” “d–n,” “a–,” “b–ch,”  “h–l,” “b–tard” and “p—y,” were said throughout the film. I lost count there were so many!

    Drugs and Alcohol Content: Mild

    • Characters were shown drinking beer and wine in several scenes.

    Will Kids Like It? Yes

Overall this is an action packed movie that most kids will like. Parents need to be aware of the excessive violent content and profane language. Depending on the child, Fast & Furious 6 is appropriate for kids ages 12 and up.

    Epic- Kids Movie Review

Mary Katherine, also know as M.K. (voice of Amanda Seyfried), wanted a “normal dad.”   Since her parents were divorced, and her mom had recently passed away, she needed the guidance and stability of her father. The only problem was, her father was very preoccupied. He was obsessed with the idea that there was a kingdom of tiny people living in the forest behind his house. He had dozens of cameras throughout the area; he was so determined to find the little creatures, that was his goal in life. Continue reading

    Pain & Gain-Teen Movie Review

Truth is stranger than fiction, a saying that definitely pertains to this film. Set in Miami in the 1990‘s, Pain & Gain is an unbelievable true story about a personal trainer named Daniel Lugo (Mark Wahlberg). He wanted to better himself, become a “doer,” not a “don’ter.” The only problem was he went about it the wrong way. He recruited two bodybuilders to help him kidnap Victor Kershaw, one of his wealthy clients at the gym. Initially their plan was to kidnap Victor, blindfold him, and have him sign over all his assets. However things fell apart, and Daniel and his bodybuilder accomplices got caught up in a criminal venture that ultimately changed their lives forever.

    Talking Points:

The film has an all-star cast, to name a few; Mark Walhberg, Dwayne Johnson, Anthony Mackie and Rebel Wilson (from Pitch Perfect). Having said that, with such a familiar/popular actors, pre-teens and teens may want to see this R-rated film. Not necessarily in the theater, but on DVD. With the excessive violence, sexual, and language contents (see details below), this film is not appropriate.

Director Michael Bay portrays this film as a comedy, which seems hard to believe, given the storyline. However it’s such an odd, unbelievable story, the comedic elements were a nice relief.

Besides the fact that this film is not for kids, in all content areas, adults may find it intriguing. Given that this is a true story, it held my attention, while wondering the outcome.

    Sexual Content: Excessive

    • We see a topless woman in a  strip club.
    • A female character is shown wearing a very short dress; she bends over and reveals her back side to a group young boys.
    • Two characters are shown having sex against a car; they are both fully clothed.
    • There are a lot of sexual references centered around male and female anatomy, sexual toys, breast milk, pregnant woman and multiple sex partners.
    • A guy is shown masturbating to porn.
    • A character is shown touching a dead woman’s breast.

    Violent Content: Excessive

    • The bodybuilders tried to kill Victor three times; they created a car “accident”, a car fire and a they drove a van  over his head; thinking he was dead, but he wasn’t!
    • Victor was handcuffed and brutally beaten.
    • They initially tortured Victor, he was shocked with Tasers, they burned his hand with a clothing press, pliers were pushed up his nose, and he was hung upside down.
    • A character’s toe was shot off, he saved it, and eventually gave it to a dog. That was disgusting.
    • The bodybuilders hid some deceased bodies by dismembering them with saws, then grilled their hands.

    Crude and Profane Language: Excessive

    • There was so much profanity throughout the film I lost count. Some words that were said; the f-word, “d-mn,” “b–ch,”  “a–,” “h–,” “c–t,”  “p—y,” and “d—.”

    Drug and Alcohol Content: Excessive

    • We saw character’s drinking heavily and snorting cocaine throughout the film.
    • We saw a man inject steroids into his thighs.

    Will Kids Like It? No

Overall Pain & Gain is an inappropriate film for kids. Having said that, adults may be intrigued by the storyline, especially since it’s an unbelievable true story!!

    Talking Points:

I love the strong family dynamics in this film and the whole series. Bella and her father have an endearing relationship. The Cullen’s are a very close knit family as well.

The closing credits featured all the actors that have appeared in a Twilight movie. This was very well done, a nice way to wrap up the series.

I thought the first half of the movie was very corny, but it gradually got better.

This was not my favorite Twilight film, though I interviewed people after the movie, and they all liked it. From teenagers to adults, they thought it was their favorite of the series.

I read that this film had a hard time avoiding an R rating due to the violent content.

    Sexual Content: Moderate

    • We saw Bella and Edward in bed making love, their first time as a vampire couple. This was a very sensual scene with romantic music in the background. We saw bare backs and legs.
    • There are sexual comments about vampire couples breaking the furniture while in a sexual encounter.
    • In one scene Jacob took off his clothes, though not his boxers. The audience liked that!!!

    Violent Content: Excessive

    • The battle between the Cullens and the Voluri was very graphic. We saw a lot of decapitations and dead bodies all over.
    • We saw a vampire woman being forced to kneel before a fire; her head was twisted until it snapped off. She and her child were thrown into a fire to burn.
    • We saw a child with blood dripping down his chin.
    • A vampire attacked a human in an alley, throwing him to the ground and biting his neck.
    • Bella attacked a mountain lion and bit his neck.

    Crude or Profane Language: Mild

    • “A–,” and “h—,” were said.

    Drugs and Alcohol Content: Mild

    • We see Bella’s dad drinking a beer.

    Will Kids Like It? Yes

Twi-hards will most likely see this movie. Some may like it, some may not. Though the Twilight Saga has come to a conclusion, the vampires will live forever!!! Parents need to be aware of the excessive violence. Depending on the child, this film is appropriate for kids ages 12 and up.
