    Daddy’s Home 2-Kids’ Movie Review

    The holidays are a wonderful time of year though the family dynamics can get complicated at times.  Brad Whitaker (Will Ferrell) is happily married and he has two stepchildren. He loves his wife’s kids and wants to be the best father to them. He’s even made an effort to get along with Dusty Mayron (Mark Wahlberg), their biological father. In fact, things are so good between the two dads they decide to have their families spend Christmas together. Now things get interesting and the family dynamics gets even more complex. Daddy’s Home 2 is the sequel to the 2015 comedy Daddy’s Home.

    • One of the Grandpa’s is a womanizer. He has sexual encounters with several different women that he picks up at bars and restaurants, though we don’t see anything. References are made that he took home two women for sex at the same time.
    • A young boy is teased about his crush on a girl. Later he’s shown briefly kissing several different girls.
    • A dad gives a boy a sex talk saying “boys have a dingle, girls have a hoo-hoo.”
    • The two Grandpa’s advice a young boy on how to approach a girl he likes. One of the grandpa’s has a nice approach telling him to become friends first. The other grandpa says “smack her behind.”
    • Kids joke about French kissing.

    Violent/Disturbing Content: Mild

    • There’s a lot of silly slapstick violence. Character’s fall, a chainsaw flies through the air, an elderly man is lost and is found laying face down in the snow.
    • One of the grandpa’s is hit in the face with a tetherball at school, then kicked in the face by a child on a swing, knocking him down.
    • A young girl shoots a turkey with a rifle and accidentally shoots her grandpa.

    • We hear “b–ch,” “s–t,” “d—,” “a–.”

    Drug and Alcohol Content: Moderate

    • Two young girls sneak rum-spiked eggnog. They get drunk and one falls off a roof. It appears that there are no consequences for their drinking.
    • Adult characters are shown drinking alcoholic beverages.

    Will Kids Like It? Yes

    Thor: Ragnarok-Kids’ Movie Reviews

    Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is back, though things aren’t going very well for the beloved God of Thunder. He and his mortal girlfriend Jane have broken up, he’s held captive on another planet, and to top things off his powerful hammer has been destroyed. When Thor discovers that Asgard is being threatened he escapes captivity and recruits his new friend Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and his former ally and fellow Avenger Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) to save their planet. Together they confront Hela (Cate Blanchett), the Goddess of Death, from destroying the Asgardian world. Thor: Ragnarok is the third chapter in Marvel’s superhero series about the ancient god of thunder.

    • Hela, The Goddess of Death can be very scary.  She slashes soldiers with a huge blade, uses magical knives, and impales them.
    • There are some gory and graphic moments, and a lot of characters die.
    • There are battles with explosions, though shown as comic book violence.

    • We hear “sh-t, “d–n,” “a–,” “h-ll,” and “son of a b–ch.”

    Drug and Alcohol Content: Moderate

    • A character drinks heavily throughout the film. In one scene we see her drunk.

    Will Kids Like It? Yes

    Overall, Thor: Ragnarok is an entertaining film. However, parents need to be aware of the excessive violence.

    Boo 2: A Madea Halloween-Kids’ Movie Review

    Madea (Tyler Perry) and her crazy relatives are back, and so is the annual Halloween fraternity party. Tiffany (Diamond White), Madea’s grandniece, has just turned 18. She’s beautiful, independent and thrilled to be going to the local college frat party. This year the party is set to take place at an eerie campground where teens had allegedly been killed. When Madea discovers that Tiffany is going to the party, she drags her elderly gang along to spy and protect her lovely grandniece. Things don’t go as planned and mayhem ensues!!! Boo 2! A Madea Halloween is a sequel to 2016’s  Boo! A Madea Halloween, and is set one year later.

    Parents may not like the film but kids will find it entertaining and funny.

    Logan Lucky- Kids’ Movie Review

    The Logan family feels unlucky, and somewhat cursed. Even though, Jimmy Logan (Channing Tatum), was the star high school quarterback and homecoming king, his life eventually becomes more difficult as he can’t keep a job or a wife. Although he does have an adorable daughter with whom he’s very close. Clyde (Adam Driver), Jimmy’s brother, goes to Iraq after high school and gets part of his arm blown off. He eventually becomes a bartender. Then there’s Mellie (Riley Keogh), who is a supportive younger sister. As the Logan’s are feeling down while nothing is going their way, Jimmy comes up with the grand idea of doing a crime. So, Jimmy, Clyde, and Mellie attempt to pull off a heist during a NASCAR race in North Carolina. Logan Lucky is an entertaining, comedic drama from the director of Ocean’s 11, 12 and 13.

    The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature

    The animals are nuttier than ever in The Nut Job 2. This film continues the story of a group of park animals who must find a new food source when their beloved nut shop burns down. When they find a beautiful new park with green grass and trees they think life is great. However, things get complicated when the mayor wants to destroy the park and build an amusement park for a profit making venture. The rodents think their lives are over, though Surly the squirrel (voice of Will Arnett) steps up and puts together a plan to destroy the amusement park.  The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature is the sequel to 2014’s The Nut Job.
