    Pretty In Pink-Kids’ Movie Review

    Pretty In Pink centers around a high school girl named Andie (Molly Ringwald). Andie comes from a blue collar family, she works at a record store, and her best friend is a quirky boy at school named Duckie. Andie’s life dramatically changes when an extremely wealthy and very popular boy at school asks her out. Initially things are amazing, however she eventually begins to realize that dating someone from a completely different background has many challenges. She especially has a hard time dealing with his snobby friends, who aren’t very nice to the girl on the other side of the tracks. Pretty In Pink is a 1986 John Hughes film.

    Kissing Booth-Kids’ Movie Review

    There are a lot of wonderful high school fundraising ideas…especially a kissing booth! The Kissing Booth is a story about two life long best friends; a girl named Elle (Joey King), and a boy named Lee (Joel Courtney). They are two high school juniors who put up a Kissing Booth at their high school carnival fundraiser. However, problems arise when the first couple enters the booth – and that’s when the drama begins. The Kissing Booth is a 2018 Netflix Original Movie.

    Wonder Park-Kids’ Movie Review

    Albert Einstein once said that, “Imagination is more important than knowledge,” and  June Bailey (voice of Brianna Denski) definitely has an a wonderful imagination.  June is a very creative young girl who loves to spend time with her mom (voice of Jennifer Garner) creating an imaginary theme park that she calls Wonderland. In her mind she has created amazing new rides and various theme park characters. June’s life dramatically changes the day she comes across a theme park in the woods…called Wonderland. Initially Jane is preoccupied with the chaos of the park as hordes of “chimpanzombies” are destroying it. Now it’s up to June and her beloved park characters to use their imagination and save the park!

    Talking Points:

    Wonder Park is an entertaining, animated film with beautiful colors and whimsical characters. However, the film has some very dark and intense moments as the main character’s mother is suffering from an illness.

    • Steve the porcupine and Greta the warthog flirt with one another. He says, ” I burn for you, baby.” She says, “I think you’re cute.” She kisses him.

    • Chimpanzombies attack June and her friends using swords and axes.
    • Chaos ensues in the park when rides turn into robots.
    • A huge storm cloud sucks pieces of the park into it.
    • There are intense scenes when characters are riding the big roller coasters.
    • June’s mom has a serious illness. When she has to leave for treatment, that depresses and scares June.

    • We hear “what the chuck,” and “son of a woodchuck.”

    Overall this is a fun and entertaining film. Depending on the child this is appropriate for kids ages 8 and up.

    Five Feet Apart-Kids’ Movie Review

    Human touch is our first form of communication, it relaxes and comforts people as well. Sadly, Stella (Haley Lu Richardson) can’t experience the human touch. Stella, is a rule-following 17-year-old girl who has cystic fibrosis (CF). Her life dramatically changes the day she goes back to the hospital for a “tune up.” She comes across Will (Cole Sprouse), a rule-breaking 17-year-old boy who also has cystic fibrosis. CF patients are supposed to stay at least six feet apart from each other to avoid cross-infection. Stella is waiting for a lung transplant, and Will has a dangerous bacteria. As the young couple falls madly in love, their biggest obstacle is staying at least six feet apart. Five Feet Apart is based on a young adult novel; Five Feet Apart.

    Captain Marvel-Kids’ Movie Review

    How does Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot, become a superhero? Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) is a Kree warrior who visits Earth in the 1990’s.  She teams up with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to stop an alien invasion to save the planet from a war between two alien races. When Captain Marvel has recurring memories of her life as Carol Danvers, an U.S. Air Force pilot, she discovers her special superpowers. Now it’s time for her to stop the evil aliens and save mankind.
