Escape Plan-Teenage Movie Review
Ray Breslin (Sylvester Stallone) escapes from prisons for a living. He’s paid by the Feds to find flaws in a prison’s security, and proceeds to find his way to escape. It’s not that hard for Ray…he reviews the layout of the prison, observes the guard’s habits and routine and seeks help from a trusted inmate. He’s got it all figured out! However, when Ray decides to take on one last job, things don’t go as planned. He’s deceived, and taken to a high-tech facility called, “The Tomb.” The cell walls are transparent and the warden is an evil man who horribly mistreats the inmates. Eventually Ray recruits Emil Rottmayer (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a fellow inmate, to devise a plan and try to escape from a place that’s nearly impossible to leave. Escape Plan is an R rated, violent film with an interested plot.

Though there are some disturbing and violent scenes; the storyline is intriguing and very suspenseful to the very end. It was interesting to see the thought process of Ray’s escape.
Sexual Content: None
Violent Content: Excessive
- There are some very intense brawls. We see the inmates fighting amongst each other. The robot -like guards punch, smash, and brutally beat the inmates.
- There are gun shots and automatic weapons used throughout the film. Several inmates die.
- A character’s leg is cut open, we see a close up view while a doctor is stitching it up.
- The warden was an evil character. He would watch the inmates being tortured and beaten. It was awful to see.
Crude or Profane Language: Excessive
- I lost count, but there was swearing throughout the film…the f-word, “a–,” “b–ch,” “d–n,” and “h–” were all used.
Drugs and Alcohol: Mild
- We see character’s smoking cigarettes.
- The doctor is shown drinking alcohol.
Will It Appeal to Teens? Yes
- This film may appeal to teenage boys as they may find the method of the escape very interesting.
Overall Escape Plan is a very suspenseful and interesting film. However, parents need to be aware of the extreme violent content. Depending on the kids, I feel this is appropriate for ages 15 and up.
