Warm Bodies – Teen Movie Review
Love conquers all, even when it involves a relationship between the living and the dead. When zombie R (Nicholas Hoult) see’s beautiful human girl, Julie (Teresa Palmer), it’s love at first sight. Initially Julie is scared of R, however after a few days of being captured at the zombie compound, Julie and R develope a strong connection, that will ultimately transform R and the other zombies. Warm Bodies is a powerful love story, one that mature pre-teens and teenagers will enjoy.

Talking Points:
Nothing like a love story. In this film R (the zombie) and Julie (the human) come from completely different worlds, however their love conquers all. R protects Julie and risks his life to save her. There is a constant theme of the power of love.
Julie was brought up to fear and hate the zombies, but, once again, true love changes everything. As R falls in love with Julie, he becomes more alive, he begins to feel various emotions, and becomes human.
Sexual Content: Mild
- We see character’s kiss and snuggle together.
- When accompanied by R, Julie strips down to her underwear before getting into bed. R takes a peak, but sleeps on the floor. We only see her backside.
- We see Julie and R passionately kissing in a pool.
Violent Content: Moderate
- It’s disgusting to see the zombies eat; blood is encrusted around their mouths and on their teeth.
- There’s a battle between R’s zombie clan and Julie’s friends. There are knives, guns, punches and biting involved.
- R beats up Perry (Julie’s old boyfriend). R smashes his head against the floor and sinks his teeth into Perry’s arm. R eats part of Perry and even takes a chunk of his brain to snack on later.
- We see characters shooting one another in the head.
- Julie stabs R in the gut.
- Zombies destroy the boneys (their enemies) in a battle. They punch, kick and shoot one another.
Crude and Profane Language: Moderate
- The f-word is said once. We hear “sh–,” “a–,” “b–ch” and “h—,” several times each.
Drug and Alcohol Content: Mild
- R gives Julie a beer.
- We hear that Julie was once grounded for drinking peach schnapps.
Will Kids Like It?Yes
Overall this is a wonderful movie for mature pre- teens and teenagers. Parents need to be aware of the zombie violence and moderate profane language.
