    Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw-Kids’ Movie Review

    American, Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), is a loyal and trusted agent in the Diplomatic Security Service. Shaw (Jason Statham) is an outcast and former British spy. Hobbs and Shaw have had their share of fights and disagreements, however, things change when terrorist M16 agent cyborg Brixton Lore (Idris Elba) controls a virus that could that could destroy mankind. Now former enemies Hobbs and Shaw team up to take down the cyborg and save the world.  Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is a spin-off of the popular Fast & Furious series.

    • There are explosions, car chases and car crashes.
    • We see a cyborg’s back sliced open while he’s having an operation.

    • Fans of the Fast & Furious series will most likely enjoy this spin off.

    Overall this is an action packed film. Parents need to be aware of the excessive violence and profane language throughout the film.

    The Lion King-Kids’ Movie Review

    Long live the king! King Mufasa (voiced by James Earl Jones) and Queen Sarabi (Alfre Woodard) of the pridelands have a baby cub they name Simba. As the king and queen present Simba to the other animals as their future king, Uncle Scar, former heir to the throne, becomes very jealous. Scar encourages Simba to venture into hyena territory, which is very dangerous territory.  {Spoiler Alert} Sadly, Mufasa is killed while saving Simba from a stampede of raging beasts. Scar accuses Simba of killing Mufasa and encourages him to run away. Of course Scar has his own agenda of becoming king with Simba out of the picture. Simba ventures on and befriends a meerkat and warthog who ultimately help him figure out how to grow up…and take back the throne and become the king! The Lion King is the computer-animated remake of Disney’s beloved 1994 classic…The Lion King!

    There are great lessons and messages in this film. An example is the film highlights the theme of humility. King Mufasa explains to his son that a true king searches for what he can give. He also says a king doesn’t own the land, it’s his to protect.

    Sexual Content: Mild

    • Two young adult lions fall in love and hug and rub one another. This is very sweet.

    Violent/Disturbing Content: Moderate

    • There are some intense fight scenes where animals attack one another.
    • Even though the storyline is the same as the original film, the live action animation intensifies the violence.
    • {Spoiler Alert} Simba’s dad dies as he’s trampled by a stampede of beasts. This is an extremely sad scene.
    • During a climatic battle scene there is a fire that spreads throughout the land.
    • Scar has blood on his fur while eating an animal.

    Crude or Profane Language: Mild

    • We hear “stupid,” “farted” and “chubby.”

    Will Kids Like It? Yes

    • I interviewed two three year old girls that loved the movie. They said they weren’t scared at all. Their favorite characters are Scar and Simba.

    Overall this is a wonderful film for the whole family. Parents need to be aware of the moderate violent content that may scare young kids.

    Stuber-Kids’ Movie Review

    Uber drivers tend to be more than drivers. They hear their passengers problems, take them through drive-ins to get food, and they may even help find killers. Stu (Kumail Nanjiani), is a mild-mannered Uber driver whose  life dramatically changes the day he picks up LAPD detective Vic Manning (Dave Bautista). The detective loses his partner during a shoot-out and is obsessed with finding the killer. Unfortunately he gets a clue right after having eye surgery so he can’t drive. He ends up getting an Uber and his driver is none other than the soft spoken, sweet man named Stu. Now Stu reluctantly gets involved with finding the killer while he’s still trying to keep up his five star rating.

    Murder Mystery-Kids’ Movie Review

    Nick Spitz (Adam Sandler), a New York police officer, and his wife Audrey (Jennifer Aniston), a hairdresser who’s obsessed with mystery novels, have been married for 15 years, but never went on a honeymoon. After years of Audrey’s complaining, Nick surprises his wife with with a belated honeymoon trip to Europe. However, the trip is not the romantic getaway that Audrey was hoping for. Instead it is more like one of her mystery novels as Nick and Audrey get involved with an interesting group of people. They end up on a luxury yacht where there are numerous murders… and sadly the beloved Spitz couple are framed for all of the murders. Mayhem ensues while Nick and Audrey try to find the true culprit.

    Toy Story 4-Kids Movie Review

    Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), and the rest of the gang are back in Toy Story 4. In the previous Toy Story films the beloved toys live with a boy named Andy. However, now that Andy has graduated and is off to college our favorite talking toys go to a new home, with a new child named Bonnie. Bonnie is entering kindergarten and is very nervous, so Woody decides to go to school orientation with her. At school Bonnie makes a special toy: a spork with googly eyes and pipe cleaner arms. Bonnie names her new toy Forky, and Forky becomes her best friend. As Woody is protective over Bonnie and wants her to be happy, he makes sure that Forky is safe, and sticks with Bonnie. It’s not always easy for Woody as he embarks on many adventures trying to keep Bonnie comforted with her new best friend. Toy Story 4 is the fourth installment of Disney Pixar’s original franchise.
